D-Pantethine
CAS No.: 16816-67-4
Synonym(s): D-Pantethine, D-Bis-pantothenyl-β-aminoethyl disulfide, Bis(pantothenamidoethyl) disulfide, Pantethine
D-Pantethine is the disulfide form of pantetheine, a derivative of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) and cysteamine. It is metabolized by pantetheinase enzymes to pantothenic acid and cysteamine and has been investigated for its effects on lipid metabolism and cholesterol levels. ¹ ²
Applications
Used as an analytical standard for HPLC, GC and LC-MS in vitamin and nutraceutical quality control.³ Also used in pantetheinase/vanin assays, cellular CoA-homeostasis and PANK-deficiency rescue models, and lipid-metabolism studies.² ⁴ ⁵
