5′-Iodo-N4-benzoyl-2′-deoxycytidine is a halogenated derivative of N4-benzoyl-2′-deoxycytidine in which the 5′-hydroxyl group is replaced by an iodine atom to introduce a potential leaving group for further synthetic transformations. N4-benzoyl-2′-deoxycytidine itself is a classic protected nucleoside monomer widely used in oligonucleotide synthesis to mask the exocyclic amino group of cytosine.¹ ² This protection is essential during iterative phosphoramidite and phosphotriester coupling cycles to prevent side reactions at the nucleobase.¹
