3-Hydroxypropionyl Coenzyme A, Sodium salt
CAS No.: N/A
Synonym(s): 3-Hydroxypropionyl Coenzyme A, 3-Hydroxypropanoyl-CoA, 3-Hydroxypropionyl-CoAAvailability: 4-6 weeks
3-hydroxypropionyl coenzyme A (3-hydroxypropionyl-CoA) is a central metabolic intermediate in the 3-hydroxypropionate cycle, an autotrophic CO₂ fixation pathway found in organisms such as Chloroflexus aurantiacus. It is formed from 3-hydroxypropionate by propionyl-CoA synthase and is further metabolized via acrylyl-CoA to propionyl-CoA.¹ In microbial metabolism, it also appears in engineered pathways linked to CoA-dependent processing of hydroxypropionate-derived intermediates.¹ ²
Applications
In biotechnology, 3-hydroxypropionyl-CoA is a key intermediate in engineered microbial production of 3-hydroxypropionic acid (3HP) from renewable substrates such as glycerol. It supports metabolic flux toward 3HP and related platform chemicals and is relevant to pathway optimization for industrial bioproduction.² 3-hydroxypropionyl-CoA serves as a substrate for 3-hydroxypropionyl-CoA dehydratase, which converts it to acryloyl-CoA, and is relevant to studies of 3-hydroxypropionyl-CoA synthase activity.³ ⁴ 3-hydroxypropionyl-CoA is also used in research on the 3-hydroxypropionate/4-hydroxybutyrate cycle, engineered 3-HP production pathways, and microbial carbon-fixation pathway optimization.³ ⁴ ⁵ ⁶ It serves as an HPLC or LC-MS reference standard.⁷
