Ethylmalonyl Coenzyme A, Sodium salt

Ethylmalonyl coenzyme A (Ethylmalonyl-CoA) plays an essential role as an intermediate in the ethylmalonyl-CoA pathway, which supports carbon metabolism in bacteria like Methylobacterium extorquens when they grow on ethylamine. It is synthesized from crotonyl-CoA through the action of crotonyl-CoA reductase/carboxylase and is subsequently converted into methylsuccinyl-CoA by ethylmalonyl-CoA mutase (Erb et al., 2007; Pflüger-Grau & Erb, 2014).
